The Top One Percenters Mixtape Vol 23

It always takes me a bit of time to put these together, mostly because I'm super selective about the music I listen to and decide to share with other people. I generally got to fall in love with a track in order to share it because I feel like I'm putting my name on the line, even for something as simple as a song recommendation. Check out volume 23 (and every playlist before it). Some of the cuts (and reasoning) include:
  • Ariana Grande (pronounced Grand-ee) - Breathin': In her come back from a terrorist attack at one of her concerts, she puts everything into her upcoming 3rd single. It's one of the most powerful, optimistic and incredible tracks I've heard in a long time
  • Calvin Harris - Promises: This dude does nothing but make hit
  • RL Grime - OMG ft. Chief Keef: Chief Keef has a second career making electronic dance music. He's got similar tracks with Alison Wonderland and NERVO
  • Alison Wonderland - No: Singer, producer, DJ, writer - she just makes hits
  • Jungle - Busy Earnin': Just makes you wanna dance
  • 5 Seconds of Summer - Talk Fast: I wish I was 10 years younger when 1D was big. Boy bands are back in style
  • Diane Birch - All The Love You Got: I get a little sad everytime I hear this track, but in a good way. The writing on this track is fucking incredible

DJ Snake & Mercer - Let's Get Ill

DJ Snake is quickly becoming one of my favorite artist/producers. Loved Encore, his debut album, and have really been digging the singles he's been dropping in 2018. "Magenta Riddem" is one of my fav videos of the year. He just released a new track with Mercer, "Let's Get Ill," and if people aren't dancing during the whole goddamn video I'm gonna be pissed.

The Top One Percenters Mixtape: Volume 21

Goddamn. It feels good to be back. It's literally been more than 3 fucking years since I've done one of the Top One Percenters Mixtape. Having a fucking job, man. It gets in the way. Maybe I'll take the summer off. TBD. But then, I think to myself, I have a second career as a professional money spender, so maybe I shouldn't quit my job lol. Either way, check out the mixtape, volume 21. New bangers to get your summer started. Check out the old mixtapes here.

DJ Snake - Magenta Riddim [Music Video]

The boy DJ Snake is a fool. Yall remember that "Turn Down for What" music video? Niggas dancing wild as shit and causing minor earthquakes in their apartment building? Well DJ Snake is back with another banger and another music video heavy on dancing and a wild outrageous story. The casting, set direction, costumes, art direction — everything's amazing. It's hard to watch this video and not feel happy and want to dance.

DJ Snake: give us another one, in my best DJ Khalid voice.

DJ Snake Unveils Tracklist for Encore, His Debut Album

DJ Snake is (finally) gearing up for the release of his debut album, Encore, on August 5. He let loose the tracklist today and it features collaborations with Justin Bieber, Skrillex, Swizz Beatz, Bipolar Sunshine, Travi$ Scott, and more. I'm extremely hype about this album — "Middle" is dope AF, as is basically everything he's released thus far. I gotta say, though, I'm surprised there's no collab with Major Lazer considering how massive "Lean On" was last year. In any event, peep the tracklist below.

Tracklist:
1. Intro (A86)
2. Middle (feat. Bipolar Sunshine)
3. Sahara (DJ Snake & Skrillex)
4. Sober (DJ Snake & JRY)
5. Pigalle (DJ Snake & Moksi)
6. Talk (DJ Snake & George Mapple)
7. Ocho Cinco (DJ Snake & Yellow Claw)
8. The Half (feat. Jeremih, Young Thug & Swizz Beatz)
9. Oh Me (feat. Travis Scott, The Migos & G4shi)
10. Propaganda
11. 4 Life (DJ Snake & G4shi)
12. Future, Pt 2 (DJ Snake & Bipolar Sunshine)
13. Let Me Love You (DJ Snake & Justin Bieber)
14. Here Come the Night (DJ Snake & Mr Hudson)

Song of the Day: DJ Snake - Middle ft. Bipolar Sunshine

The seemingly omnipresent DJ Snake, fresh off the summertime smash "Lean On" with Major Lazer and MØ, is back with his brand new single. "Middle", featuring Bipolar Sunshine, features that signature break/hook that DJ Snake has become known for. "Turn Down For What" had it, "Get Low" had it, "Lean On" had it, and "Middle" has it. I'm a little concerned that the formula might get a little played out, but until that happens, just sit back and enjoy this new shit. Oh, and Bipolar Sunshine has always been a Reckless Hedonist favorite.

Major Lazer & DJ Snake - Lean On ft. MØ [Music Video]

A few weeks ago, Major Lazer dropped "Lean On" with DJ Snake & MØ, the first single off their forthcoming album, Peace is the Mission. Today, the band let loose the music video for "Lean On", as well as confirming Peace is the Mission will drop June 1st. The song is super dope and has been in my rotation since the beginning of March, but I have a few Qs about the music video: One, when did Major Lazer get a budget to do something as expansive as this? And two, am I the only one with a side eye at MØ's dancing? Either way, I'm geeked for the new album.
