The Top One Percenters Playlist: Volume 30

Woman sitting on a boat with the ocean and beach behind her
CORONAVIIIIIRUS (Cardi B voice). Life is wild, aint it? You think you're doing well, that the fam is doing well, that you've got health, a good job, some money in the bank; You think your investments are sound and (relatively) safe; That you're set up (relatively) well for the future. But life comes at you fast (Kevin Federline would know), just this time, it's coming at everyone at the same time at (largely) the same rate.

It felt like it was time to make another playlist - it's new music Friday after all (wait, it's only Monday? The days run together when you're inside everyday). It's been much longer than it should've been, and there's so much music to share that I'm breaking them up into two playlists - Volume 30, which is rap, trap and harder electronic, and Volume 31, which will be pop, indie pop, dance, etc. Volume 31 will come later this week, so be on the lookout. As always, check out Volume 29 and all previous playlists here. Spotify playlist below and tracklist after the jump.

The Top One Percenters Playlist Volume 25

I'm *kind of* able to do these with a little bit of regularity, but not as frequently as I want. I had most of these tracks selected a few weeks ago but am only now getting around to putting everything together.

The 25th playlist includes some really amazing work from Takeoff of the Migos ("Infatuation" is probably the most fully realized track I've ever from Migos/Migos members), new/newer artist like Glowie and Kiiara, house/dance artist Robyn (probably best known for "Dancing on my Own" and whose new album, Honey, is up there as one of the best albums of 2018) and amazing new sounds from Icona Pop and Empress Of. Check out the earlier Top One Percenters Playlist here.

The Top One Percenters Mixtape Vol 23

It always takes me a bit of time to put these together, mostly because I'm super selective about the music I listen to and decide to share with other people. I generally got to fall in love with a track in order to share it because I feel like I'm putting my name on the line, even for something as simple as a song recommendation. Check out volume 23 (and every playlist before it). Some of the cuts (and reasoning) include:
  • Ariana Grande (pronounced Grand-ee) - Breathin': In her come back from a terrorist attack at one of her concerts, she puts everything into her upcoming 3rd single. It's one of the most powerful, optimistic and incredible tracks I've heard in a long time
  • Calvin Harris - Promises: This dude does nothing but make hit
  • RL Grime - OMG ft. Chief Keef: Chief Keef has a second career making electronic dance music. He's got similar tracks with Alison Wonderland and NERVO
  • Alison Wonderland - No: Singer, producer, DJ, writer - she just makes hits
  • Jungle - Busy Earnin': Just makes you wanna dance
  • 5 Seconds of Summer - Talk Fast: I wish I was 10 years younger when 1D was big. Boy bands are back in style
  • Diane Birch - All The Love You Got: I get a little sad everytime I hear this track, but in a good way. The writing on this track is fucking incredible

The Top One Percenters Mixtape: Volume 21

Goddamn. It feels good to be back. It's literally been more than 3 fucking years since I've done one of the Top One Percenters Mixtape. Having a fucking job, man. It gets in the way. Maybe I'll take the summer off. TBD. But then, I think to myself, I have a second career as a professional money spender, so maybe I shouldn't quit my job lol. Either way, check out the mixtape, volume 21. New bangers to get your summer started. Check out the old mixtapes here.

Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa - One Kiss [Lyric Video]

Sometimes you hear a song and you know it's a fucking hit. Everyone had that feeling two weeks ago when Drake dropped "Nice for What," and we have it again with the new Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa, who if you aren't familiar with, you better get familiar because she's one of the best and most exciting new artists out right now. All you need to know is she's got one album and she's already getting co-artist credit on a Calvin Harris track. It's not "Calvin Harris featuring Dua Lipa," it's the two of them together.

Anyways, "One Kiss" is one incredible house banger that you're gonna hear all summer long, and deservedly so. CH has been making the jams since day one, and as the weather gets warm, we need more rooftop, pool and late night bangers to play at all hours of the day and night. Both Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris deliver in spades.

Calvin Harris - Feels (ft. Pharrell, Katy Perry & Big Sean) [Music Video]

The new Calvin Harris album is mental, monumental, incredible, sonic, phenomenal, it's summertime, poolside, beach vibes — it's everything. The fourth of July weekend was truly lit because of this and the Jay album. One of the recent official singles is "Feels", a Daft Punk vibing record that sees Pharrell back on his "Get Lucky" feel. Katy Perry and Big Sean are kinda along for the ride, but it's okay because the Pharrell/Calvin connection is like a Chris Paul/DeAndre Jordan alley oop (RIP Chris Paul/DeAndre Jordan alley oops). I mean, think about it — how awesome is a record when Katy Perry and Big Sean are a literal bonus?

Calvin Harris Announces 5th Album — Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1

Calvin Harris just released a trailer for his upcoming 5th album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which drops June 30th, about 7 weeks away. He also teases what I believe may be his next single, featuring Future and others. Key players on this album/tracks I'm looking forward to? Katy Perry, ScHoolboy Q, Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Future (the song playing), Big Sean, John Legend, Migos ("Slide"), D.R.A.M., and Snoop Dogg.

I'm really fucking excited for this album and really fucking geeked for summer '17.

Dizzee Rascal & Calvin Harris - Hype [Music Video]

[Updated with official video] Dizzie Rascal and Calvin Harris have been making music together for a while. They did "Dance Wiv Me" in 2008, plus 3-4 additional tracks since then. Their latest single, "Hype", just dropped, and it sounds like a Dizzee track, as it isn't the epic house that Calvin Harris is know for. It's more of a "breakdance when the beat drops" type of track. TBD if this will be included on CH's upcoming album or not. Check out their first collabo, "Dance Wiv Me", below.

The Top One Percenters Mixtape: Volume 7

What's good, all? We're back with the latest mixtape, The Top One Percenters Volume 7. Remember, these are individual tracks, not one long mix. On deck this time around is Kanye, Calvin Harris, Game, Cazzette, Martin Solveig, Kendrick, Casket Girls, CHARLIE XCX, and more. Tracklist and link below.

I'd like to include a Spotify playlist on here, but a decent amount of the tracks aren't on Spotify because they haven't been released officially, they have been but Spotify hasn't gotten them yet, they're a radio rip, a leaked track, or an artist too new/underground/without a rights deal :/
