Song of the Day: AlunaGeorge - Mean What I Mean ft. Leikeli47 and Dreezy

AlunaGeorge is gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, Remember, and they've slowly been teasing new tracks. First there was "I'm in Control" with Popcaan, then there was "My Blood" with ZHU, as well as the title track. Now they're (she?) back with the latest cut, the female-empowered aka the putting all the fuckboys on notice aka better put some respek on my name aka you touch me I'm putting my finger in your eye aka "Mean What I Mean". They shouldn't have to tell you anything twice, cuz they meant it the first time.

Separately, is George Reid still in the group? I haven't seen him anywhere recently — not in promo material, not on the Instagram. He's barely on the single covers. I guess AlunaGeorge is being marketed as a solo Aluna Francis. I just find that interesting and I'd love to hear the reasoning behind the move.

Remember is on your prefered digital streaming service September 19.

Song of the Day: AlunaGeorge - I'm in Control ft. Popcaan [Music Video]

I've always been on and off the AlunaGeorge train. I've liked most of their singles and features (Jack Ü's "To You" featuring AlunaGeorge was one of my favorite tracks of 2015) but their albums, or the band, has never clicked for me as a whole. I'm hoping that changes with their upcoming, untitled album because if "I'm In Control", the first single, is any indication, this could be some "album of the life" shit, as Kanye would say. Electronic Caribbean trap is all the rave right now.

Jack Ü (Skrillex + Diplo) - To Ü ft. AlunaGeorge

This album is nothing but fire. So is the Major Lazer album. And this is probably my fav song off either set. In fact, this might be my favorite song of the year. It's been in my main iPod playlist since the album dropped in late february, and it's got no signs of slowing down (unlike Meek Mill's career). Everytime the break hits...gawwwwd. This is the song I listen to when I'm exiting the subway as I walk to my office. You should also check out their closing set from Ultra Miami 2015.

Song of the Day: AlunaGeorge - Attracting Flies (Baauer Remix)

I'm slowly, but surely, becoming a big fan of AlunaGeorge. There's 'You Know You Like It' and 'White Noise' by Disclosure ft. AlunaGeorge, both of which took a while to grow on me. Their new song, 'Attracting Flies', gets the remix treatment courtesy of the 'Harlem Shake' master, Baauer. And it's pretty much weekend fire.
