The Top One Percenters Playlist Volume 32

A weird thing about covid is the artist divide on whether they should be releasing music during this pandemic. My opinion is a resounding "YES" because it helps reinforce a bit of normalcy that everyone is craving. I get not wanting to release music/albums you can't promote, but with so many artist postponing releases, I've had to dig a little deeper into the crates for Vol 32. Check out the Spotify playlist below and the tracklist after the jump. Click here for Vol 31 and here for all playlists.

The Top One Percenters Playlist Volume 25

I'm *kind of* able to do these with a little bit of regularity, but not as frequently as I want. I had most of these tracks selected a few weeks ago but am only now getting around to putting everything together.

The 25th playlist includes some really amazing work from Takeoff of the Migos ("Infatuation" is probably the most fully realized track I've ever from Migos/Migos members), new/newer artist like Glowie and Kiiara, house/dance artist Robyn (probably best known for "Dancing on my Own" and whose new album, Honey, is up there as one of the best albums of 2018) and amazing new sounds from Icona Pop and Empress Of. Check out the earlier Top One Percenters Playlist here.

Empress Of - Woman Is a Word

Empress Of is one of my favorite artists. She's only released one album, last year's Me, but damn, it might've been my favorite album of the year. Earlier this week she let loose "Woman Is a Word", one of the tracks that didn't make the cut. On her Facebook page, she said,
I'm so happy to share an unreleased track from my album today. This song means so much to me. I wrote it as a reaction to feeling like the word "woman" put me in a box of things I was capable to do.

Empress Of - "Need Myself" + "Standard" [Music Video]

Empress Of is a Brooklyn-based indie/electronic-pop singer-songwriter. She released her debut album, Me, last week, and let me tell you — the shit is straight fire. I'm still making my way through the intricacies of each track, but I can already you that there isn't a single song on this album that I am not a fan of. I like everything. And it's been a while since that's happened. One of the first songs I latched onto is "Need Myself", one of the more scathing tracks about not wanting/needing someone I've heard in a long time. Show love and buy her album here, and check out her Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, and Soundcloud.
The second track that absolutely goes is "The Standard". Idk, something about the instrumentation reminds me of a mix between the drums of 808s and Heartbreaks and the indie-pop version of those Travi$ Scott beats. But I love it. The hook goes, "Tell me what you see in the mirror when you're feeling faceless/do you see a man who isn't there/living for the sake of living/I can promise you no one cares". I love it. Pitchfork loves it. You will too.

Song of the Day: Empress Of - Water Water

I don't really know who Empress Of is or anything about her steeze, really. But she makes some fucking incredible electronic pop music. I've had "Realize You" in my iTunes for a year and a half, and I feel like her new jam, "Water Water", is gonna be in for an equally long ride.
