Throwback: That Time Fear Factor Made People Drink Donkey Semen
Fear Factor used to be the show. For a chance to win $50K, people did all sorts of shit they wouldn't normally be willing to do. Case in point: there was an episode in 2012 called "Hee! Haw! Hee! Haw!" that included a stunt where each team had to chug donkey semen and urine. NBC got skittish about the episode and never aired it. It took over 2 years before clips eventually found their way to YouTube.
Take a look and try not to throw up.
Throwback Thursday: UGK - Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You) ft. Outkast
Saw on Twitter somewhere that someone wanted to walk down the aisle to "Int'l Players Anthem" but their husband vetoed it. Not sure how much I believe that, but it's a novel idea nonetheless. I checked YouTube, and while there are some wedding playlists with the track, there are sadly none with the couple walking down the aisle with "Int'l Players Anthem" playing angelically in the background. Some trivia about the track:
- Produced by Three 6 Mafia, and the original version featured the group (this was later turned into the remix)
- Nominated for the Best Rap Performance by Due/Group @ the 2008 Grammys
- #43 on Pitchfork's "Top 500 songs for the 2000s"
Throwback Thursday: Sporty Thievz - No Pigeons [TLC "No Scrubs" Response]
The year was 1999. TLC had come out with "No Scrubs", their scathing rebuke of broke men who aint shit. The track reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was the #2 song on the Billboard year-end charts. It was massive. Sporty Thievz came along and create a response to women shaming men who weren't financially successful — turning the tables on the women who weren't successful themselves, and thus were in no realistic position to be talking shit.
"No Pigeons" was a massive success in its own right, peaking at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the same time "No Scrubs" was ruling the airwaves. Watch the video above #ThrowbackThursday
Throwback: DMX - Slippin' [Music Video]
This song appeared on DMX's Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood. I still think this is one of DMX's best songs, if not the best one he ever did. DMX was never shy about expressing his feelings, about events both past and present, and this is a great example of what enamored everyone with the dark man x when he hit the scene.
Fun fact: this song samples Grover Washington, Jr.'s "Moonstreams", and his estate wouldn't allow any curse words in "Slippin'" so DMX had to release the song edited in order to gain clearance.

Throwback Thursday: Remember When Some Dude Threw His Shoes at George Bush?
Damn, that was only 7 years ago? Feels like much longer. But on the real, George Bush handled that like a G. He saw the first come, and he ducked liked Muhammad Ali. Then he calmly waited for the second shoe and blocked that shit. Boss status.
Throwback: Remember That Time Mike 'The Situation’ Sorrentino Made His Own Dance Song?
I thought about finding the worst picture of The Sitch that I could, but thought better of it because that would be cyberbullying. Back in 2010, when Jersey Shore was near its cultural apex, Mike 'The Situation’ Sorrentino made a song called "The Situation" ft. Fatman Scoop, Disco Fries & DJ Class (remember when DJ class was on the radio? Remember “I’m The Ish” w/ Kanye?). This track, which wouldn’t be terrible if it didn’t have anything have anything to do with The Situation, is about being in the club and running in “situations”. Sigh. The track even ends in the most Jersey Shore TV show way possible with Mike yelling, “I mean, you can hate all you want, but what can you possibly say to somebody that’s ripped up like motherfuckin’ RAMBO?”
I had to listen to this song before doing this write up and it was the first time I had done so since I got a new computer three years ago. There’s still ringing in my ears.
Throwback: Ghostface Killah - You Know I'm No Good ft. Amy Winehouse
A little known banger. Ghostface remade/remixed Amy Winehouse's "I'm No Good" for his 2006 album More Fish. As cool as JAY Z's remix of "Rehab" was, this is my favorite rapper made remix of an Amy Winehouse song.
Throwback: Ohio University Mascot Beats the Hell Out of Ohio State Mascot
I had to bring this back because DON'T YOU EVER FORGET IT. Five years ago, OU played OSU in an early season football game. Before the match began, Rufus the Bobcat attacked and beat the shit out of an unsuspecting Brutus the Buckeye.
Throwback: Wyclef Jean ft. The Rock - It Doesn't Matter
Not gonna lie: I used to bump the hell out of this track. It's still kinda funky, in a Black Eyed Peas sort of way. But in a I-live-in-reality sort of way, this is terrible.
Throwback: Kanye West - We Were Once A Fairytale [Short Film]
Back when Kanye made short films and actually released them (cough cough Cruel Summer film), he linked up with director Spike Jonze for this hypnotizing —if incredibly awkward — short film titled We Were Once A Fairytale. "See You In My Nightmares", one of the standout tracks from 808s and Heartbreaks gets major play in this piece. If you don't recall the short, an uber inebriated Kanye obnoxiously trolls people at an upscale bar. AND THEN shit gets weird. But when you watch the clip now it's easy to see Kanye was ahead of the Molly trend because dude is obviously ROLLIN HARD.
