The Hood Internet - The Mixtape Volume 9

The Hood Internet is a Chicago-based DJ duo. They do mashups, generally rap/R&B vocals over snyth/indie-pop or electronic beats. They just released their 9th mixtape and it's got all sort of heaters and bangers on it. You've got Dr. Dre over Dillon Francis, Rae Sremmurd over Caribou, all kinds of crazy shit. They've even got Kendrick Lamar over Taylor Swift - "Backseat freestyle" over "Shake It Off". You can DL the full stream or a zip with the individual tracks over on their website. Back To Delilah [Drake x Florence + The Machine Mashup]

Back To Delilah [Drake x Florence + The Machine] from Tesher on Vimeo.

Someone gives Drake's Meek Mill "diss" song the instrumental and atmosphere it deserves. While the original beat was devoid of energy, this mash up with Florence + The Machine's "Delilah" provides all the ammo Drake should've came with the first and second time around.

The Hood Internet - The XX Gon' Give It To Ya (DMX vs The XX) [Mashup]

There's not a lot to say except DMX, years ago, should have enlisted The XX to produce his comeback album. They capture the dark, sparse instrumentation the dark man x was best known for. Check The Hood Internet for more mashups like this.

Emynd x M83 x Lil Wayne x Rick Ross - My Tears Are Becoming John [Mash Up]

This is one of my favorite mash-ups I’ve ever come across. It takes the energy and lyrical ferociousness of Lil’ Wayne’s “John” and throws it overtop the slowly-bubbling-and-buildin-until-it-explodes “My Tears Are Becoming a Sea” by M83 (which you may remember from that Red Bull commercial). I still love working out to this track.

The Long Blondes - Century

The Long Blondes were a five piece indie-rock/pop band from the UK. They released two album in the mid-2000s before calling it quits after one of the members had a stroke that more or less ended their musical career. The above single, "Century", was remixed by The Hood Internet and feautures Three 6 Mafia.

Song of the Day: The Hood Internet - I Don't Fuck With Classics (Big Sean vs The Knocks) [Mashup]

For those who don't know, The Hood Internet are a Chicago-based DJ group who rose to prominence (at least as far as I know) making dope ass mashups. The mashups generally feature rap acapellas over indie-pop/dance music tracks, so all in all they flow really well and are reminiscent of MTV pop music when they first started throwing rappers on everything.

They're most recent track, which dropped a few days ago, is "I Don't Fuck With Classics", a mashup of Big Sean's "IDFWU" and The Knock's "Classics". Check it out below and download here. For more of their mashups, check out their website or their soundcloud page.
