Delta Rae is like an alternative rock-slash-folk band, which is odd because I normally run away whenever I hear "folk" + "rock" in music descriptions. But somehow the band's music got to me before I could escape and they hit me with the one-two punch of "Bottom of the River" (above) and "If I Loved You" (below). "Bottom of the River" is a chain-gang style minimalist track with sparse production that showcases the lead singers powerful vocals. It's some shit that would be on YEEZUS if YEEZUS was an American folk/rock album.
"If I Loved You" is the type of shit that deserves to be heard by the mass audience. I really feel like this could be the theme song to girls everywhere who have put a lot of male friends into the friend zone. It's about NOT loving someone, so it's a nice break from the typical "oohhhh iiii looovvveeee yoouuuuu" bullshit you always hear on the radio. With the proper backing and the right circumstances, I really feel this song could be a top 40 hit. It's crazy dope. Show love and check out their Facebook, Twitter and website. As a side bar, I meant to write this post last week. I'm only writing it now because I had a dream last night that they blew up, and I was all like, "shit! I need to write that article before it becomes outdated." So, yeah, I must really like this band to be having dreams about their popularity, and shit.
