Baauer - Kung Fu ft. Pusha T & Future

I really, really dislike Future. But I really, really like this song. Baauer creates the perfect blend of rap and electronic/grime for the "Kung Fu" instrumental, and it makes me wish he'd produce rap exclusively. Pusha T is on his cocaine flow, like normal, and like normal, it's generally outstanding.

Baauer's debut album Aa, is out tomorrow, March 18.

Song of the Day: Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman

Ariana Grande is back with the super official first single from her upcoming 3rd album, Dangerous Woman. The track, a sultry throwback to your favorite 90s R&B, sees Grande stepping out from using JUST her powerful voice to build the song, something that's new for her. The slow building, guitar heavy track feels like a mature evolution for the 22-year-old, and the vibe, arrangement and instrumentation feels like of those Rihanna tracks everyone tries to emulate, except Grande sidesteps the emulation and creates her own thing.

I can only hope the Dangerous Woman album follows in the vibe of it's title track when it drops May 20th. Max Martin co-wrote and co-produced this, because obviously. See below for Larry David fucking up the intro to her SNL performance of the track.

Song of the Day: Chiara Hunter - Hammer

So dope I had to buy it. Feels super mid-90s R&B mixed with 2016 pop/electronic. Super sonic. Love her voice. Show love and check out her Facebook, Twitter, IG, and Soundcloud.

Song of the Day: AlunaGeorge - I'm in Control ft. Popcaan [Music Video]

I've always been on and off the AlunaGeorge train. I've liked most of their singles and features (Jack Ü's "To You" featuring AlunaGeorge was one of my favorite tracks of 2015) but their albums, or the band, has never clicked for me as a whole. I'm hoping that changes with their upcoming, untitled album because if "I'm In Control", the first single, is any indication, this could be some "album of the life" shit, as Kanye would say. Electronic Caribbean trap is all the rave right now.

Show love and follow AlunaGeorge on Facebook, Twitter and IG.

Kosmetique - Palace Gates [Music Video]

Sometimes you hear tracks that fall a little out of your wheelhouse and your first instinct is to move as quickly away from it as possible (I'm looking at you, country music). But this track builds enough after the first 30 seconds that it loses a bit of the repetitiveness that drags it down at times. (Make no mistake, though, it's still repetitive as fuck. Just not in a bad way.) Another thing that bothers me? When labels upload tracks to their YouTube but give no information on the band who's video you just watched. Shouts to Alftitude.

Will The Real Republican Please Stand-Up! [Video Spoof]

Someone saw fit to cut up the first Republican Presidential Debate into a rap timed to Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady". There's no title to the video, but it would undoubtedly be "Will The Real Republican Presidential Candidate Please Stand Up". It absolutely slanders the Republican party by taking everything liberals don't like about them, distorting the clips, and recreating them as ether-esque bars of steel. Props to whoever had the time and patience to do this. That person has real talent.

Coldplay - Adventure of a Lifetime

Coldplay may or may not be gearing up for their last album together. Chris Martin, at the end of 2014, said, "it's our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it's like the last Harry Potter book or something like that." I've never been a big Coldplay fan, but "Princess of China" with Rihanna was my shit. "Adventure of a Lifetime" has that smooth rock/pop sound that I'm starting to get more and more into. I'm excited. A Head Full of Dreams hits December 4th.

Song of the Day: Clairy Browne - Vanity Fair

Claire Browne, no longer with The Bangin' Rackettes, but still with that same 1930s/The Black Keys pop sound, is back with her brand new single, and it's an ode to big asses. I feel some type of way just watching it. I love the song, too. Show love and check out her website, Facebook, and Twitter.

Blondfire - Pleasure

Blondfire is an LA-based indie-pop band gearing up for the release of a new EP next year. To start the hype train, the group released "Pleasure", which very much feels California to me. Erica Drsicoll, the lead singer, described the track to Billboard as such:
The song was inspired by the crazy Manchester drug scene aftermath and how seeking that ultimate euphoria and pleasure can come with a dark side. It was fun while it lasted.
Show love and check out Blondfire's Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, and website. Perhaps the band's biggest hit, "Waves", reminds me a bit of Empire of the Sun, for a point of reference.

Meg Myers - Motel

Song of the Day: DJ Snake - Middle ft. Bipolar Sunshine

The seemingly omnipresent DJ Snake, fresh off the summertime smash "Lean On" with Major Lazer and MØ, is back with his brand new single. "Middle", featuring Bipolar Sunshine, features that signature break/hook that DJ Snake has become known for. "Turn Down For What" had it, "Get Low" had it, "Lean On" had it, and "Middle" has it. I'm a little concerned that the formula might get a little played out, but until that happens, just sit back and enjoy this new shit. Oh, and Bipolar Sunshine has always been a Reckless Hedonist favorite.

The Hood Internet - The Mixtape Volume 9

The Hood Internet is a Chicago-based DJ duo. They do mashups, generally rap/R&B vocals over snyth/indie-pop or electronic beats. They just released their 9th mixtape and it's got all sort of heaters and bangers on it. You've got Dr. Dre over Dillon Francis, Rae Sremmurd over Caribou, all kinds of crazy shit. They've even got Kendrick Lamar over Taylor Swift - "Backseat freestyle" over "Shake It Off". You can DL the full stream or a zip with the individual tracks over on their website. Hit the jump for the tracklist

Song of the Day: POWERS - HOT [Music Video]

I don't know who Powers is, but after randomly coming across this track, I feel like it's my temporary life mission to find out (and goddammit, they are not the easiest to google search for). Whoever they are, "HOT" is their most recent single, and it's one of those summery disco-pop creations that I find myself loving more and more. To really put a point on it, it's the kind of shit that I wanna drop mushrooms on and just be in an empty-ass room with giant-ass speakers and dance like I'm Napoleon Dynamite. Real Talk. And, they remind me a bit of The Ting Tings.

Show love and check out their Facebook, Twitter, website, IG, Soundcloud, and Spotify.

Bomba Estéreo - Fiesta Remix ft. Will Smith

Will Smith is gearing up lay his roots back down in music in 2016. He's going on tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff, and according to The Rolling Stone (via Zane Lowe's Beats 1 interview), he has some 30ish brand new songs already in the can, including "six or seven that [he] really, really like, that [he's] trying to get the ideas to come out right." The first new bit of material from the Fresh Prince in 10 years is the above remix of Bomba Estéreo's "Fiesta" — and I'm really feeling it. The guitar riff is crazy and Will Smith just feels like confidence.

In the interview, Smith said, "when you've had a certain amount of success, it seems like it should breed confidence. But it actually doesn't. It's the craziest thing; it's like when you win a lot and you lose the ability to lose, you're not allowed to lose anymore. You actually lose the ability to create; the reckless abandon. And it's something I'm getting back from watching my kids — they really don't care. That kind of reckless abandon and that lack of fear and not trying to protect anything and not trying to live up to a legacy or anything like that gives you freedom. ... Fear is the killer of creativity, man."

Fucking right.

Barack Obama - Back to Back [Donald Trump Diss/Drake Spoof]

Alphacat, the comedian/rapper who's most famous for his visual and prose similarity to Barack Obama, has released a new video — this one a spoof of Drake's Meek Mill diss, "Back To Back", aimed at Donald Trump. He's got some great lines in this video. Some highlights:
He'll tell another one and then another one/The DJ Khaled of lies, here comes "another one"
See Trump's the type of dude that mocks the world's poor/but is the world poor, or your soul poor?/I know you're tryna get known more/but this the type of nonsense you got fired from "The Apprentice" for
Bars.

Travi$ Scott - Piss On Your Grave ft. Kanye West

I was never a Travi$ Scott fan. In fact, I was kind of anti-Travi$ Scott because the guy can't actually rap well, and even tho there's this "Travi$ Scott sound", he doesn't really produce anything, either. When Rodeo came out last month, neither of those two things changed — but what did change for me was the flame beats and crazy energy he was droppin. "90210" goes in, and even more than that, "Piss On Your Grave" makes me wanna suplex niggas. It makes me wanna drink champagne and smash the bottle over someone's head like it aint nothin. The Kanye verse, even tho he doesn't say anything, gets me amped as hell — I'll be in the shower tryna get ready for work all I wanna do is run through a brick wall. When the beat drops and Kanye yells "Can't hide from the truth, now we bout to go ape"? It doesn't matter what I'm doing. I'll stop and just start turnin up. "ME AND LE FLAME? IS YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?"

Yes, Kanye. I'm entertained. Now fucking drop SWISH already, god.
