The-Dream has been pretty hit or miss with his last few releases. His first two albums — Love Hate and Love Vs. Money — are pretty close to classics, in my opinion. His other stuff, not so much. But he recently released his Crown EP and it feels like a return to form. There’s the club-esque “That’s My Shit” ft. T.I. and the classic “you’re not too good for me, I’m too good for you” track “Prime".
But both of those pale in comparison to “All I Need”, a song so well written that it feels bigger than The-Dream’s current place in music. That’s not a knock on The-Dream. Quite the contrary, actually. It’s so well written and so big that it feels like it could Rihanna or Beyonce’s next number #1 single. It’s really that good. I mean, as soon as the hook hits you, which is so simple but arranged like a fucking boss, (it’s just “All I need is you, baby”, repeated) you can’t help but feel it and think of that one person the shit applies to. And you really can’t get more clutch than that.
